Scandal in the quarry: building rubble and environmental dangers in Bärenstein!

Bärenstein.A dramatic conflict unfolds in the Bärenstein-Kesselhöhe quarry! Hendrik Schwarz, the owner of the Development and Financial GmbH & Co. KG (VEF), is horrified by the discovery of illegal deposits that came to light after the long -term tenant was cleared. On the site that was once used for the breakdown of sand and gravel are now old tiles, asphalt pieces and plastic parts - materials that have lost absolutely nothing here! "The areas were covered with mineral mixtures that were produced here," explains Schwarz, who has had the quarry since the 1990s.

The previous tenant, a subsidiary of a global building material group, has already removed part of the build, but Schwarz demands more: "The soil on which the once 50,000 tons of rubble has been stored must be examined! If it is loaded with dangerous fabrics and arsenic, the group must act!" In a legal exchange of blows, Schwarz sued the company for compensation, and a court ruling is imminent. "I hope for a sensible decision and that the company fulfills its responsibility," he says in reprint.

The explosive history of the quarry

The roots of the conflict go back to 2000 when Hendrik Schwarz ’father leased the quarry. As early as 2003, he found that the tenant illegally deposited fabrics that had been incurred in Heidenau after the flood of the century. Despite multiple attempts to stop this practice, the termination of the lease remained ineffective due to financial hurdles. Tragically, important evidence was destroyed in 2015 in an arson attack on the VEF office.

In 2018, Hendrik Schwarz took over and discovered that the quarry could gain in importance through planned lithium reduction projects. He asked the tenant to remove the deposits, but he rejected the allegations. Black could not be discouraged and brought the matter to the authorities, where the illegal deposits were confirmed. A comparison in 2020 committed the company to remove the deposits, but the deadlines were not met. Now Schwarz hopes for an agreement to put the quarry back into operation and possibly get into lithium processing.
