Shock at the Rodlern: Wolfgang Kindl plunges spectacularly in Altenberg!
A dramatic weekend for Austrian tobogganing! Wolfgang Kindl experienced a shock moment in the World Cup competition in Altenberg when he brutally fell shortly before the finish line. The 36-year-old Tyrolean was on a record course when his sled broke away through an unexpected wind gust. "I was really on the road," reported Kindl later. Despite the spectacular fall that made him appear as a "play ball of physics", he got away lightly. Medical studies revealed (uncovered) that he suffered some bruises and sprains, including the collarbone and knee. Kindl, who also planned a start in the double seat, could not be stopped by the pain and finally drove to a solid fourth place.
First World Cup start for Noah Kallan
While Kindl has brought falls and injuries behind, 20-year-old Noah Kallan from Ebensee celebrated a remarkable debut in the World Cup. As the third best Austrian, he ended up in a strong twelfth place, which is particularly impressive in the challenging atmosphere of the artificial ice rink in Altenberg. With a time of 1: 49,712 minutes, Kallan only had a gap of 1.502 seconds to winner Max Langenhan from Germany. His success was made possible by a strong seventh place in the Nations Cup, which formed the basis for his start in the World Cup. Since the Austrian European champion Jonas Müller canceled due to the dangerous route, Kallan was able to take his chance and impressed everyone with his performance.
Kindl's fall and Kallan's success illustrate how challenging and unpredictable tobogganing can be. While Kindl is planning for the next European Championship in Winterberg, Kallan was already able to set a first milestone in his career, as well as laola1.at and Sn.at reported.
