100 years of Lindenberg library: A heart for books and reading pleasure!
Lindenberg, Deutschland - A reason to celebrate! The Lindenberg library, a true treasure in the heart of the rectory, celebrates its 100th anniversary! Founded in 1924 by Pastor Weiser, who took the first step to promote reading culture with just 23 books, the library fought through heights and depths and remains an important starting point for bookworms!
History of the library
In 1957, the library moved to the newly built "sister house", which offered space for kindergarten, parish hall and of course the library. But the story was not always so harmonious: from 1983 the library was temporarily closed before it reopened in 1990 with new vigor. Despite the challenges, the Lindenberg library is one of only 100 Catholic public libraries in the diocese of Speyer, which is supported by around 750 volunteers and is also aimed at non -church goers!
An anniversary of a special kind
Well, since we arrived in the anniversary year, the numbers can convince: the rental numbers in recent years have risen constantly, and the library has developed into a place that offers much more than just books. With over 1,200 media, including tonies and games, she ensures that everyone gets their money's worth. Readers can now also use the free online service of the "Onleihe in the Diocese of Speyer", which has over 10,000 digital media!
Unfortunately, the 100th anniversary cannot be celebrated with a big festival, but a creative plan is on the program: During the Lindenberg Christmas market, the library will be represented with a colorful stand! Here 100 different articles are sold to celebrate the anniversary and acquire new media. A big thank you goes to all loyal readers and supporters who make this success story possible!
