Mainz is investing 6 million euros in modern disaster protection!
Mainz, Deutschland - On March 24, 2025, the city of Mainz took a significant step in strengthening medical disaster protection. As part of a festive ceremony, four new emergency hospitals (NKTW) were handed over to the aid organizations Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), German Red Cross (DRK), Maltese Hilfsdienst (MHD) and Johanniter-Accident Aid (JUH). These vehicles are equipped with modern emergency medical equipment, including ventilation devices and EKGs. The total value of the four NKTW is 850,000 euros, which corresponds to a price of 212,500 euros per vehicle. The purchase was initiated in close cooperation between the city of Mainz and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which supports the measure with around 310,000 euros. According to BYC News reported.
In the further context of emergency care and the emergency services in Germany, the German interdisciplinary association for intensive and emergency medicine (DIVI) calls for comprehensive reforms in a current position paper. The main author Dr. Janina Bathe gives challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers and the decreasing health literacy. The aim is to significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency services. The proposals include the central role of the control center and a targeted resource control in order to make the preclinic even better. DIVI President Prof. Florian Hoffmann has criticized the ineffectiveness of current emergency care for more than 20 years and appeals to the federal government to advance a quick implementation of necessary reforms, such as Divi reported.
