B 262: Full closure for roadway renewal between door and Mendig!

An important step to improve the transport infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate is imminent: from14. until October 24, 2024the B 262 road between the Thür and Mendig junctions is over a length of3.1 kilometersrenewed. This construction measure is necessary because the street has severe damage, consisting of displacement, cracks and potholes. Bernd Cornely, the head of the Mobility State Operation (LBM) Cochem-Koblenz, explains: "To ensure traffic safety, the asphalt binder and cover layer must be renewed."

The work is carried out for structural and safety -relevant reasons with the full closure of the affected section. The blocking will take place during the autumn holidays to keep the impairments for drivers as low as possible. During this time, traffic is diverted via the A 61, from the Mendig junction to the Kruft junction and further via the B 256 to Thür. For long -distance transport there is a comprehensive detour via the A 48 from the Mayen junction to the Koblenzer Kreuz, from where the route continues via the A 61 to the Mendig junction. The corresponding diversions are signposted on site.

Preparations and votes

In order to effectively coordinate traffic management and the start of construction, the LBM Cochem-Koblenz worked closely with various institutions. This includes thepolice, theFire department, the integrated control center Koblenz as well as representatives of local public transport and local administrations of the city and community of Mendig. These common votes are crucial to ensure the security and efficiency of the construction site and the diversions.

The Christoph Schnorpfeil company from Trier was commissioned to carry out the construction work after it had received the contract with the public tender. The total costs for the project are up to750,000 eurosthat are fully worn by the federal government. This investment is an important contribution to maintaining the transport infrastructure in the region.

Current information on the construction work and traffic routing can be interested in the mobility atlas at traffic.rlp.de remove. The LBM Cochem-Koblenz already thanks all road users for their understanding and patience during the construction period, which will bring in the inevitable impairments. However, the improvements associated with the renewal of the road are of great importance for future traffic safety and the comfort of all those who use the B 262.
