Sonorous tradition: Final concert of the piano duos in Engers Castle!
On December 22, 2024, a final concert will take place at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Academy that will focus on the talents of young pianists. These events, which traditionally take place during the Christmas season, bring together talented musicians from all over Germany who hone their skills under the guidance of renowned professors Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl. The concert offers a unique opportunity to experience the result of intensive preparatory work in the festive setting of the garden hall at Engers Castle, and all with free admission, as reported on the RLP Tourismus website.
The Stenzls, who have been able to establish themselves in the international music scene for over thirty years, are not only known as exceptional pianists, but also as passionate teachers. Your training at the Rostock University of Music and Theater will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024. During this period, their students have won over 100 prizes in national and international competitions, which documents the impressive success of piano duo training, as the university highlights in a recent announcement. From October 18 to 20, 2024, this anniversary will be celebrated with a “Festival of the Piano Duo,” which will include numerous concerts and master classes, including a performance by the piano duo themselves.
Celebration of the piano duo
The concert to kick off the anniversary, “Piano Duo Stenzl and Friends”, will take place on October 18, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Chamber Music Hall. The audience can look forward to a performance of Brahms’ “Sonata in F minor for two pianos”. Works by Bach, Rachmaninoff and Debussy are also on the program for the “Long Night of Piano Duos,” which takes place on the same evening. A special piano recital with Marcella Crudeli is planned for October 21st, who wants to enchant the audience with Chopin's melodies. Admission to all events is free, making it easier to access this cultural celebration.
While the preparations at the State Music Academy are in full swing and the big anniversary celebration at the university in Rostock is approaching, it is becoming clear how lively piano duo training is and what importance it has for talented pianists.
