Revolution of women's rights: Together against violence and discrimination!

On December 10, 2024, the International Human Rights Day, ÖGB Vice President Korinna Schumann urgently called for the immediate termination of violence against women. She emphasized that "all people are the same in dignity" and that this means much more than mere words. As part of this year's campaign "16 days against violence against women and girls", she explained that violence has many cruel faces, with women often being the main suffering. "Women who have experienced violence are more than victims - they are our sisters, mothers, partners and friends," said Schumann. She also called for improved training and further education opportunities as well as a secure income for women to guarantee her financial independence. "Financial independence is the foundation for a self -determined life," she emphasized, making it clear that the connection between human rights and women's rights is essential to achieve equality.
