Herbert Kickl, the chairman of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), recently received the head of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), Alice Weidel, in Vienna. The topic of "migration and asylum" plays an increasingly central role in the rhetoric of right -wing extremists. The increase in right -wing extremist demonstrations, which grew to 367 meetings in 2023, shows that this problem can not only be pushed into the background. The importance of right -wing extremist music events that are at a highest level increases the influence of such ideologies that are still spreading in society.
The number of violent incidents remains an indicator of the dangers that come from right -wing extremist groups. It remains to be seen how the political landscape will react to these developments and whether legal steps against the AfD will actually be successful or not.
