Police officers argue about Hitler salute in the St. Johann process
The trial at the Innsbruck Regional Court brought a shocking judgment against a 26-year-old after an incident at the Jaggasn Festival in St. Johann in July. According to information from ORF Tirol unanimously made a judgment on Tuesday afternoon: the accused was guilty and received a one -year -related prison sentence and 10,800 euros in fine. The incident occurred during the night when the man appeared extremely xenophobia towards several officers and loudly insulting statements such as "shit Turk". He was also accused of singing the racist song by Gigi d’Agostino.
The question was particularly disputed whether the defendant showed the Hitler salute. During the trial negotiation, he explained that he only stretched out his arm to show his aversion. However, this was questioned by one of the police officers who were recorded that the gesture was unequivocally understood as a Hitler salute for him. This contradicted other police officers who have noticed any such gesture. According to the defenders' convictions, the Floor IT was complicated by too many different impressions of the civil servants, which the defense could not prevent them from expressing severe doubts about the guilty verdict in their plea.
Memories of the past
The use of the Hitler salute has been banned in Germany and Austria since the end of the Second World War. This gesture, which was considered the official greetings between 1933 and 1945, shows the extremely delicate social and legal problems in dealing with such symbols. The Hitler salute, known as "German greeting" in National Socialist usage, was introduced by the NSDAP and has been a strongly negative sign since then. How Wikipedia reports, every deviation from this greeting was considered disobedient and was able to lead to serious consequences. This topic is also of great importance in today's world, especially when racist and discriminatory actions are expressed in this way.
