Ecumenical Cross Way Throughout Gmünd and České Velenice combines!

Gmünd, Österreich - The third cross -border ecumenical crossroads "crossed" took place on March 28, 2025 in Gmünd and České Velenice. The event was organized by the parish association Gmünd - Dietmanns - České Velenice. The Way of the Cross was a conclusion of a project that started two years ago and offered the participants the opportunity to think about central questions of life related to the life of Jesus. These questions were:

  • Where are my life paths crossed?
  • Where did I imagine my life differently?
  • I might be in the way of myself?

The Way of the Cross was worked out by Thomas Binder and accompanied by Pastor Tomáš Vyhnálek and Deacon Roland Senk. When the weather was nice, the event started at 6 p.m. at the St. Agnes church in České Velenice and ended in the parish church of Gmünd St. Stephan. After the Way of the Cross, an agape took place in the parish.

travel registration and weather conditions

participants were pointed out not to forget their passport because the event was cross -border. However, if the weather is uncomfortable, an alternative date in the Gmünd-Sten church was. Stephan intended.

promotion of ecumenism

As part of the cross -border crossroads, it becomes clear how important ecumenical events are. They not only promote inter -religious dialogue in a world characterized by crises, but also the understanding and reconciliation between different faith communities. In this context, the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) refers to worldwide ecumenical engagements and its importance for peace and justice in its brochure "Moments of Ecumenism".

The EKD emphasizes various projects that support schools for disadvantaged or refugee children in Lebanon and Addis Ababa, for example, and organize ecumenical prayers for peace in Ukraine. These worldwide initiatives help to overcome fears and to promote long -term communication between religions, which was also evident when carrying out the Way of the Cross in Gmünd.

In addition to the ecumenical Way of the Cross, further events are planned in April. These include a singing meeting with dance on April 6th and a herbal hike on April 5 and a menu of the Heidenreichstein company pastoral care on April 7th.

The large number of participants and the bilingual implementation of the Way of the Cross testify to the high level of acceptance and the interest in ecumenical cooperation in the region. It is a step in the right direction for reconciliation and dialogue across beliefs.

For more information about developments in ecumenism, the EKD refers to its website, where there are extensive insights into their commitment.
