Rocco Reitz: Gladbach star wins coveted Felix Award” in Dortmund!

An unforgettable Friday for Rocco Reitz! The 22-year-old Gladbach professional celebrated two major successes in one day. First, he shone on the pitch when the German U21 national team triumphed 3-0 against Denmark in Aachen in front of 11,872 enthusiastic spectators. The victory was secured by goals from Nicolò Tresoldi, Nathaniel Brown and Youssoufa Moukoko. Borussia's loan player Oscar Fraulo played for a half under the Danes.

After this impressive performance, Reitz quickly moved on to Dortmund. A very special honor was waiting for him there: the “Felix Award” in the “Football” category! This prestigious award has been awarded for outstanding sporting achievements in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2007 and is a real accolade for every athlete. Reitz was able to prevail against strong competitors like Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah and was overjoyed: "I still can't quite believe it. I'm incredibly proud and extremely grateful for this great honor."

A prize with tradition

The “felix award” is awarded by the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia in collaboration with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and in Olympic years also by the Sportstiftung NRW. The winners are decided through online voting, which makes the award particularly valuable. Rocco Reitz is not the first Gladbach professional to receive this award: former keeper Yann Sommer was awarded twice in 2019 and 2022. With this success, Reitz joins an illustrious list of athletes who have been honored for their achievements.
