Criticism of Behrens: Fanhilfe calls for resignation after the derby cost chaos!
Hanover/Braunschweig.A storm of indignation is brewed! The Fanhilfe Hannover raises serious allegations against Lower Saxony Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) because of the exploding costs for police operations at the Brisant Derby between Eintracht Braunschweig and Hannover 96.
The cost of the police operation on October 6th amounts to shocking 1.22 million euros! This sum also includes preparations for two demonstrations. Despite the absence of problematic Hanover fans on the match day itself, there was a violent incident in a restaurant in Adenbüttel after the game, where 50 Hannover chaots met Braunschweig. The police had to intervene, which led to considerable additional costs through extended service times. A total of 450 additional service hours were needed to control the situation.
Home fans shot at with rockets
In advance, the minister had only approved 1240 Hannover fans in Braunschweig, a reaction to the riots at the last derby in April, when home fans were shot at with rockets. Paula Mundt from Fanhilfe criticizes the minister sharply: "The fan culture no longer exists in the stadium and the police have lost control of the situation." The fans who suffer from arbitrary measures must now also bear the increased costs as taxpayers. Mundt demands that Behrens take responsibility for her "desolate action" and someone with more competence comes to the top of the ministry.
