A judicial scandal shakes Lower Saxony! The Hanover public prosecutor's investigations against a presumably corrupt public prosecutor - and that to the Oldenburg authority! Justice Minister Kathrin Wahlmann (SPD) entrusted the general prosecutor Andreas Heuer with the clarification of the case. The shock waves of this decision are enormous, because the allegations weigh heavily: the 39-year-old is said to have revealed secret information about money on an international cocaine gang for years!

The allegations are explosive! The prosecutor is accused of having warned of a nationwide raid in 2021 and thus sabotaged the investigation by the police. His office was searched in November 2022, but without tangible results. Now the suspect is in custody - and the allegations of bribery and the betrayal of service secrets are difficult for him. The opposition speaks of an unsustainable condition and calls for consequences!

New rules for internal investigations

In order to avoid such scandals in the future, Wahlmann has ordered a fundamental change in the handling of internal investigations. In the future, each investigation will be delegated to another public prosecutor's office in misconduct within the judiciary. This is a clear step to avoid conflicts of interest and to restore confidence in the judiciary. The CDU parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament has criticized the previous investigations as "intolerable" and calls for comprehensive information.
