A serious accident on the B4 in Uelzen caused excitement and injuries on Wednesday evening! At 6:30 p.m. there was a dramatic collision between the Molzen and Oldenstadt junctions, which affected six people. The trigger? A forbidden turning maneuver by a 73-year-old man from Celle who was traveling in a Renault with his 70-year-old wife.
The two seniors apparently noticed too late that they had entered the B4 incorrectly and tried to turn around in the direction of Braunschweig. The driver overlooked an Opel that was occupied by a family of four from Lengede. The impact was violent: the couple from Celle suffered serious injuries, while the family fortunately only sustained minor injuries. The police estimate the total damage at around 25,000 euros.
Rescue workers on duty
The B4 was closed for hours while the fire department illuminated the scene of the accident and the emergency services were quickly on the scene. Fortunately, no people had to be rescued from the vehicles. The 73-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm and endangering road traffic. The investigation is ongoing and police will release further details.
