A serious accident on the B4 in Uelzen caused excitement and injured on Wednesday evening! At 6:30 p.m. there was a dramatic collision between the Molzen and Oldenstadt junctions that affected six people. The trigger? A forbidden turning maneuver of a 73-year-old man from Celle who was traveling in a Renault with his 70-year-old wife.

The two seniors apparently noticed too late that they were wrong on the B4 and tried to turn on the Braunschweig direction. The driver overlooked an Opel, which was occupied by a family of four from Lengede. The impact was violent: the couple from Celle suffered the serious injuries, while the family was fortunately only slightly injured. The police estimate the total damage to around 25,000 euros.

The B4 was closed for hours, while the fire brigade illuminated the scene of the accident and the emergency services were quickly on hand. Fortunately, no people had to be freed from the vehicles. The 73-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm and danger to road traffic. The investigation is ongoing and the police will publish more details.
