Moritzburg's children shape the future of sports facilities!
Moritzburg.An exciting project has started in Moritzburg, in which the voices of the youngest are heard! Stefanie Lippitsch, the project manager of the children's future council, asked the 18 children from the 3rd and 4th classes of primary schools in Moritzburg and Reichenberg: "Have you all done your homework?" The answer was an enthusiastic "yes", followed by lively stories about her experiences. This was the second of a total of eight events, which should take place until April next year to illuminate the sports facilities and offers in the region.
Mayor Jörg Hänisch gave the children a clear order: "Take a look at the sports offers and sports facilities in the municipality of Moritzburg! What do you think is great and what may not be so good?" The children are full of ideas! Lennart wants an artificial turf for the football field in Reichenberg because the current gravel field is uncomfortable in bad weather. A girl adds that an outdoor table tennis plate is missing. These creative suggestions are part of a Saxon-wide model project, which is financed by the German Children's and Youth Foundation.
No access for adults
The first session in October determined the rules: adults have no access, except the project manager and her colleagues. The children have already gained an overview of the sports facilities in Moritzburg and their “homework photos” are evaluated at the second meeting. After an exciting countdown, the children can enter their special space behind a glittering curtain, where their ideas and suggestions for future sports facilities are discussed.
The children's ideas should flow into the new sports facility concept
The project will be completed in April with a handover event in which the children's ideas are presented. These should flow into the new sports facility concept of the municipality. Mayor Hänisch emphasizes the importance of taking into account the needs of the children: "We want to know what the kids have for needs." Project manager Lippitsch adds: "The children should also be involved in topics that affect them." The future of the sports facilities in Moritzburg will be shaped by the youngest!
