Plön is becoming a hotspot for the art scene! The Plön Art Association is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a spectacular winter exhibition entitled “Retrospective”. In the “Old Swimming Hall” in the castle area 1a, not only are the posters from past exhibitions presented, but there is also an exciting auction of artistic works coming up. On Sunday, December 15th, the grand finale will be celebrated with the auction of works of art by well-known artists such as Hanne and Peter Nagel as well as the famous “Sprayer of Zurich”, Harald Naegeli. An event that attracts art lovers to the Old Swimming Hall!

Financial challenges and creative solutions

But not everything goes smoothly! The art association is facing financial hurdles after the state surprisingly canceled its subsidies. “That was bad news,” said Valentin Rothmaler. The costs for insurance, transport and the professional hanging of the works of art increase immeasurably. This makes the poster exhibition all the more important, as it not only celebrates the past, but also points out the current challenges. “We have to get creative,” emphasizes Dieter Pape. New purchases such as audio guides and compensation for supervisors show that the association is moving with the times and adapting to the new expectations of visitors.

The exhibition not only has a nostalgic character, but is also intended to stimulate donations. Admission is free, and on the weekends there is coffee and cookies for a pre-Christmas atmosphere. The organizers hope that the art auction on December 15th at 3 p.m. will be a complete success in order to secure the future of the association. “We definitely want to hold the next summer exhibition,” says Romming. Preparations are already in full swing and all auctioned works will be on display in the Old Swimming Pool by December 7th. An event not to be missed!
