Coalition negotiations: Who will be a partner in the new government?
In a first reaction to the new coalition program in Austria, Johannes Steinhart, President of the Austrian Medical Association, was optimistic and pointed out that important concepts and demands of the medical profession were integrated. "We see it positively that the new coalition program takes up some concepts and demands of the medical profession and are interested in cooperation with the future government," said Steinhart. However, he points out that some passages of the program are still unclear in the current form and require concretization. "For all open questions, the Medical Association has good and sustainable solutions, which we are happy to bring into discussions with the future government," he added, like ots reported .
In the meantime, the coalition negotiations are just around the corner in Germany after the Bundestag election. The Union has received most of the voices, which means that Friedrich Merz will now negotiate with the SPD to form a possible coalition. As Tagesschau , a formal mandate for government formation is not necessary. Such a regulation is only available in other countries. The Federal President is expected to propose Merz as a candidate for Chancellor, provided that the coalition negotiations are successful. However, if there is a failure of these negotiations, the Bundestag will nevertheless have to come together according to the legal regulation for the choice of Chancellor. This could even lead to minoritarian forms of government if an agreement should not be achieved. The coming weeks will promise exciting developments in both countries, whereby the cooperation between the government representatives and the negotiation results will be decisive for the political landscape.
