Neustadt-Mengsberg celebrates the inauguration of the new village community center!

Neustadt-Mengsberg.A historic day for the small community of Mengsberg! On Friday, November 15th, the eagerly awaited village community center (DGH) was inaugurated - a “house for everyone” that makes the hearts of around 900 residents beat faster. After two decades full of plans and setbacks, it has finally become a reality, thanks to the village development funding program of the state of Hesse. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in mid-2023, and now the new building shines in all its glory.

The impressive costs of 2.1 million euros were largely borne by the state of Hesse, namely 1.35 million euros. Mayor Thomas Groll celebrated the inauguration as a “day of gratitude and joy” and remembered the late district administrator Kirsten Fründt, who made a significant contribution to the realization of the project. “Without them we would not have gotten into this program,” emphasized Groll. The community initiative in Mengsberg shows that rural areas are alive and have a bright future!

Praise for the commitment

Hesse's Minister of Agriculture, Ingmar Jung, praised the cooperation of citizens and the importance of such projects for the region. “The money is well spent,” he said and encouraged the Mengsbergers to remain committed. Architect Dr. Stefan Strack presented a special gift: a mosaic created from construction site photos showing the new DGH. A symbol of the community and the memories that will be created there!

The “House for Everyone” offers space for up to 260 people and is modernly equipped, with a stage, a bar and a catering kitchen. While the outdoor area will not be completed until spring 2025, bookings have already been confirmed until 2027! Mengsberg will soon be full of life and the anticipation is palpable!
