Live, baker Kahl: A piece of Frankfurt is lost!
The traditional bakery "Der Bäcker Kahl" in Frankfurt closed on January 12, 2025 after 40 years. Tasso Kahl, the 70-year-old owner, retires. On the last day of sales, numerous regular customers sang a farewell song, while a young man hugged Kahl and had to cry. Kahl and his son Michael emptied the sales room, which was almost empty after the last sale.
TASSO Kahl, who never used finished mixes and always offered homemade products, only began his professional career at the age of 50 when he attended a vocational school to officially confirm his skills. Previously, he had stopped his pastry apprenticeship after his mother died and needed support. Various professions followed before working in a bakery and finally took over a milk bar shop, which marked the beginning of his own bakery. After a temporary closure, Kahl had to reopen his bakery 20 years later, which happened in 2011 in Friedberger Appendix 14.
successor and new patisserie
Michael Kahl will be in sales at the successor in the future. The new operators, Diana Pak and Richard Phommavapy, are already planning a new patisserie that will combine French, German and South Korean influences. The opening of this new patisserie is planned for March 2025. In addition, the new operators have announced that they will also offer bread rolls according to Kahl's proven recipe, which is supposed to live the traditional baking art of Tasso Kahl.
For more information about the bakery, the official website of Tasso Kahl is available, which offers information on contact details and the planned activities of the new operators, as baecker-kahl.de
