DHL stress: customer fights for her package and 50 coins!

A drama at the front door! A DHL customer from Kassel experienced pure torture as she waited for her package. After several failed delivery attempts and an unexpected customs amount of 21.16 euros, the situation becomes a real test of patience. The parcel carrier responsible for the delivery demands cash at the door - but the customer doesn't have the necessary change with her!

The story begins innocently enough with an online order for a leather bag. But when the DHL parcel delivery person rings the doorbell, the joy quickly turns into frustration. “I didn’t have any cash because I didn’t know I had to pay customs,” the customer reports on Reddit. It doesn't take long for the parcel delivery person to react unfriendly, and she promises to come back the next day. But even on the second attempt the delivery didn't happen because the messenger didn't have any change. “She snapped at me and asked if it looked like an exchange office,” says the customer. Another attempt fails when the messenger rejects a handful of coins and threatens to send the package back.

One last attempt with 50 coins

Frustrated, the customer researches and finds that retailers are not required to accept more than 50 coins. She is preparing for the next delivery attempt and has exactly 50 coins ready for the 1.16 euros. But the parcel delivery person is once again reluctant and is about to leave when the customer vigorously insists that she has to accept the money. After a phone call with her manager, the delivery is finally completed - the customer finally holds her package in her hands after convincing the messenger to come to terms with her persistence.

DHL has clear guidelines: Customs payments must be paid directly at the door, and without payment there is no delivery. Customers are usually informed of applicable customs duties, but in this case communication was less than optimal. A lesson about the pitfalls of online shopping and the challenges of package delivery!
