Urgently wanted: Großenlüder handball players need a goalkeeper!

Creative initiatives are in demand in the Fulda handball circle: The women's team of HSG Grossenlüder/Hainzell currently has an urgent problem. Nele Reinhardt is currently the only goalkeeper for the Oberliga handball players-a situation that cannot stay that way. Trainer Anne Deckenbach and her team are therefore looking for a second goalkeeper and are going unusual ways.

The challenge was recently portrayed in an entertaining Instagram reel, which is accompanied by Prince Grizzley's "I Keep on Searching". Filmed before an away game against HSG Bad Wildungen/Friedrichstein/Bergheim, the video conveys the message: "We are looking for a goalkeeper!" However, the situation is serious after Katharina Hölzinger and Neele Hartung said goodbye to the team, the responsibility is now completely on Reinhardt, who is only 19 years old.

Desperate call for support

"I definitely asked 16 or 17 goalkeepers," reports Deckenbach and reflects the difficult situation of the HSG. Even in a circle, where there are usually numerous options, it can be seen that it is a rarity to only have a goalkeeper. The long -standing players Eugenia Wertmüller and Theresa Reith have confirmed that something like this has never occurred in the past.

To solve the problem, the trainer even attached a notice near the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. She hopes that a new student may find the way to the region that can guard the box. An internal solution is not possible because the district league reserve also only has a goalkeeper.

Deckenbach was originally optimistic that Vanessa Röthel from the second team could move up to the first. But these hopes smashed when she learned that Röthel was pregnant. So the difficult search started again. Experienced players such as Carolin Greulich, who once played in the Oberliga, were also asked, but they have already heralded their retreat from active handball and always cancel.

"To expect a change shortly after the start of the season is naive," said Deckenbach. As a rule, players only change if there are serious problems in their current club. In addition, a change is associated with a lock that can occur for several weeks. This situation makes the search for a new goalkeeper even more difficult.

Training with challenges

The current situation brings with it considerable challenges. In training, it often happens that the team plays on two empty goals, which is anything but ideal. "It is particularly important for a goalkeeper to change in between in order to return to the game fresh," explains Deckenbach.

Another big problem arises if Reinhardt cannot take part in the game - and what then? "We have no answer and we are afraid of that," admits Keckenbach. The idea that the trainer had to go into the goal herself sees her as the worst option.

The online request for the Instagram reel has not yet given any positive feedback. Nevertheless, the HSG Großenlüder/Hainzell remains optimistic. The team is determined to find other creative ways to find the urgently needed goalkeeper.

Interested parties who see themselves in the role of the goalkeeper can report directly to trainer Anne Deckenbach on the phone number (0176) 61460885. The HSG women hope for soon to support a second goalkeeper in order not to leave the young Nele Reinhardt in the box alone and keep them free.
