Fire brigade Olympiad in Biedermannsdorf: Laxenburg wins spectacular!
On April 1, 2025, the first “Olympic Games of the Substitution 3” took place in the Biedermannsdorf fire station in Lower Austria. This event brought together around 50 members of the fire brigades Laxenburg and Biedermannsdorf, which compete against each other in five mixed groups. The competitions included various disciplines, including an obstacle course, fire house exercises, "the floor is lava", skill board and a quiz. In order to compensate for the error points, the participants had to do pushups or other physical exercises.
A special highlight of the event was the final competition "Tank Pulling", in which seven comrades each had to pull their emergency vehicle over a certain route. In the end, the Laxenburg fire brigade was pleased to see the Wander Cup won, which was presented by HBI Emanuel Vermeer to HBI Tröszert. Among those present were Mayor Hans Wimmer and Vice Mayor Josef Walker.
conviviality and meals
The event ended in a cozy round, in which the supply team provided the participants with baked ham stains and cold drinks. This sociable get -together underlines the community spirit and the camaraderie, which are very important in the fire brigade.
international dimensions of fire brigade sports
In an international context, the fire brigade culture stands out through exciting competitions. As the German Fire Brigade Association reports, competitions take place worldwide in which numerous nations take part. For example, over 2,600 members from 20 nations took part in the 17th International Fire Brigade Competitions of the World Fire Brigade Association CIFIF in Celje, Slovenia. Germany was represented with 22 groups, which is a tenth of the entire participant. The competitive times fell between July 17 and 24, 2022.
The German teams competed in different categories, including men A, men B and women A. In traditional competition, the disciplines, consisting of a 400-meter relay race and a fire-fighting attack, differ significantly from the sporting challenges for which special competition clothing is required.
The large number of participants and the variety of disciplines are of great importance and the continuing enthusiasm for fire brigade sports competitions in the international environment. In addition to the sporting challenge, the exchange between fire brigade members from different countries is also promoted.
