Mülheim fire department practices for emergencies: large-scale MANV operation successful!
In Mülheim an der Ruhr, a spectacular large-scale operation by the fire brigade was triggered on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.! A fire alarm in the chemical room activated the alarm system and called the emergency services to the scene. A fire brigade and the operations management immediately made their way to the scene, ready for a mass casualty incident (MANV).
The exercise was an impressive spectacle: numerous injured people, realistically portrayed by actors, were simulated. The emergency services showed impressive speed and efficiency by quickly treating and transporting the injured. Support came from the fire departments in Oberhausen and Duisburg as well as from aid organizations such as the Johanniter, Malteser, the German Red Cross and the ASB. The police were also on site and ensured everything ran smoothly, while the Ruhrbahn provided a bus to look after those who were uninjured.
Teamwork in action
The operation revealed the outstanding commitment and excellent cooperation of all organizations involved. After about three hours of intensive exercise, in which around 250 people took part, a positive conclusion can already be drawn. The knowledge gained is now being collected and thoroughly evaluated in order to further increase efficiency in future operations. A big thank you goes to all emergency services and helpers for their strong teamwork and the successful completion of the large-scale MANV operation!
