Fleet of drivers in Wels: Drug drivers pretends identity!
On September 15, 2025, a rear-end collision occurred on the smearndorferstrasse in Upper Austria, in which a 34-year-old man from Wels and a 30-year-old woman from Wels were involved. The car driver drove east at 12:25 p.m. when the woman turned her vehicle from a parking space to the street and collided with him. After the accident, the 30-year-old left the scene of the accident without exchanging her data, which is seen as a serious offense in traffic safety.
About 15 minutes after the incident, the woman returned and initially pretended to be her sister. In the police control, however, she could not show a driver's license, which prompted the officials to determine their true identity. As reported 5min.at, it turned out that the 30-year-old was not in possession of a valid steering authorization.
Reaction of the authorities
A voluntary drug rapid test that was carried out by the woman was positive. Despite the results, the 30-year-old denied the demonstration to the doctor. This situation is part of a major problem in road traffic, which, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), has increased in recent years. In 2024, over 4,000 drug violations were registered in Germany, which prompted the authorities to warn against the dangers of drug use at the wheel, as [right-wing policy.com] (https://www.rechtundpolitik.com/politik/verkehrpolitik/drogen-und-strassenverkehr-kba-verofficht-besorbenden-s-s-s
The 30-year-old woman is displayed due to her deeds. The police investigations show that drug violations are increasingly a problem, especially among younger drivers. According to the KBA figures, 87% of the criminals recorded were male in 2024, with the majority of violations of road users aged 25 to 44.
A worrying trend
The increase in such incidents illustrates the importance of education and measures to reduce drug abuse in road traffic. Younger age groups are particularly affected, which underlines the need to address the dangers of drug use. The international day against drug abuse on June 26 is used to educate the public about the risks and to raise awareness.
The traffic authorities continuously work on making the streets safer. The current events are a clear indication that a lot has to be done to reduce drug abuse in road traffic and to promote responsive behaviors.
