In a dramatic incident on Saturday afternoon in Wilster, Steinburg district, a devastating fire broke out in a workshop! An employee who was carrying out welding work on a vehicle at 3:10 p.m. triggered the flames under unclear circumstances. The inferno spread in no time and turned the entire workshop into a blazing inferno!
The fire department arrived quickly, but the situation was dire. Over 40 emergency services not only fought against the flames, but also against an invisible danger: asbestos! The roof of the workshop, made of Eternit panels, could release toxic substances. To protect themselves, firefighters wore FFP2 masks while trying to bring the fire under control.
