Christinendorf is struggling: playground urgently needs renovation!

Christinendorf.A playground that is getting old and in desperate need of a refresh! There are numerous playgrounds in Teltow-Fläming that are in a dismal condition, and the one in Christinendorf is no exception. A survey by the MAZ, in collaboration with the playground manufacturer SIK-Holz, has shown that many residents complain about the inadequate play opportunities in the district. Around 100 citizens took part in the search for the “saddest playground,” and Christinendorfer Platz was named as one of the main candidates.

At first glance the playground may seem neat, but the reality is sobering. Roswitha Kiether, a committed resident and former educator, describes the deficiencies: “Too little,” she says about the sparse play equipment. An old play tower, a swing and a double seesaw are all that are available to the children. There is no sandpit, no shady place to play - just the blazing sun. “Our playground is the oldest in the entire area,” says Kiether, remembering the times 30 years ago when parents and young people lent their own hands to create this space.

Christinendorf playground: On Trebbin's priority list several times since 2014

Despite the community's efforts to repair broken equipment and maintain safety standards, parents have been pushing for more variety and better play options for years. "A new playground has been at the top of the city's priority list since 2014. But nothing has happened to date," complains Kiether, emphasizing that the small town has a comparatively large number of potential users with around 15 playground-ageing children.

The survey has brought a breath of fresh air into the discussion. There is great hope for an improvement in the playground, and one specific wish is already in place: a new wobbly bridge, which all the children loved, to replace the equipment that was dismantled. The Christinendorf playground is one of seven candidates competing for the title of “Saddest Playground in TF”. The winner will receive a much-needed makeover from SIK wood.
