New online medium Zwischenbrücken starts in Vienna!

Bernhard Odehnal, an experienced journalist and long-time employee of the Zürcher Zeitung "Tages-Anzeiger", starts a new online medium entitled "Zwetbrücken". This innovative project will concentrate on the two Viennese districts of Brigittenau and Leopoldstadt, which together accommodate almost 200,000 inhabitants. The platform, which is financed as part of a crowdfunding, aims to shed light on current topics, conflicts and trends from these residential areas. Crowdfunding is considered a moral drive and ends in mid -March, while the official opening of the portal for the end of March is planned, on time for the Vienna local elections on April 27, like Klein Report reported.

The team behind "Zwetbrücken"

Odehnal brings together a strong team, including journalist Naz Küçüktekin and photographer Christopher Mavrič, both of whom also have close connections to the districts. Their goal is to uncover grievances in the district administration through thorough research and to document the local influence of significant national and international events. For example, it is examined how the fall of a dictator in Damascus has an impact on Syrian families in Brigittenau. The reporting will not only include investigative articles and interviews, but also event instructions, gastro tips and portraits of people, such as vienna.at emphasizes.

Another aspect of the project is the planned financing, which is supposed to compose subscriptions and advertising revenue. There is also the option to offer some content behind a paywall. Odehnal emphasizes that you want to beat bridges between different social layers through your medium, and the name "Zwetbrücken" also symbolize the geographical location of the districts between the Danube Canal and Donau. In view of the upcoming start of the portal, the team is motivated. "The pressure to succeed," says Odehnal with a smile while preparing for the upcoming challenges.
