On Friday evening, the self-employed EDEKA businessman Reiner Schenke was awarded the prestigious “Golden Sugar Loaf” in Berlin. This symbol of recognition, awarded by Deutscher Fachverlag and the Goldener Zuckerhut Foundation, honors exceptional achievements that contribute to the positive development of the German food industry. Schenke is not just a businessman, but a role model in acting responsibly with a deep sense of regional connection and unwavering customer orientation.
Background and awards
“Reiner Schenke is a businessman who impresses with responsible actions, regional ties and absolute customer orientation,” praised Markus Mosa, Chairman of the Board of EDEKA ZENTRALE Stiftung & Co. KG. Schenke and his team inspire with a colorful range of first-class foods and innovative ideas, while they ensure fresh enjoyment every day in their seven markets, three Trinkgut locations, an organic market as well as a coffee roastery and bakery.
The gala awarding the Golden Sugar Loaf is considered the highlight of the German consumer goods industry. A top-class jury made up of managers and industry experts honors personalities whose extraordinary achievements have a lasting impact on the food industry. Schenke has also been heavily involved outside of his company, for example in the supervisory bodies of EDEKA Rhein-Ruhr and the EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg.
