The Autobahn 11 in Western Pomerania in the direction of Berlin has been closed since Sunday evening due to two truck accidents. The incidents occurred about 500 meters before the Penkun junction, where both trucks slid into the right guardrail one after the other. This was done by Northern Courier and n-tv reported.

The accidents happened in quick succession around 10:20 p.m., with one of the trucks overturning on its side. Fortunately, both Polish drivers remained uninjured. Heavy technology had to be called in to salvage the tractors and trailers. The closure between the Pomellen and Penkun border crossing is expected to last until at least Monday afternoon. The total damage is currently estimated at around 90,000 euros, but could be higher.

Weather conditions and cause of accident

At the time of the accident there were unfavorable weather conditions with heavy snowfall and low frost temperatures. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is still ongoing, as the accident sites are only a few hundred meters apart.
