Shock in Nuremberg: Tram and VW Golf collide at green!
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, there was a traffic accident between a tram on line 10 and a blue VW Golf in Nuremberg. The accident occurred around 9:55 a.m. at the Kirchenweg/Bucher Straße intersection, known as Friedrich-Ebert-Platz. Both vehicles were in the roundabout, and both the driver of the tram, 38 years old, and the 50-year-old driver of the car stated that they had driven the intersection at green traffic lights, which leads to ambiguities about the cause of the accident.
There were about 25 passengers in the tram, fortunately everyone was unharmed. The drivers of the two vehicles also remained without injuries. The property damage is estimated at around 12,000 euros. The Nuremberg traffic police are asking witnesses to the incident to report on 0911 6583-1530.
Details on the course of the accident
The tram drove north, while the VW Golf was on the east. Despite the statements of both drivers about the traffic light phase, the exact cause of the accident is still unclear. The traffic police have started the investigation and is now looking for other witnesses who may have additional information about the incident.
