A memorable event happened in the Augsburg district, known for its high naturalization rate! At the glittering naturalization ceremony in the district office, District Administrator Martin Sailer congratulated 1,092 new citizens who became Germans from 57 different nations from January 1, 2023 to October 23, 2024. The district is one of the best adoptive homes in Bavaria and offers its newborn citizens not only a new home, but also all the rights of the Basic Law!
Happy faces and moving stories characterized the celebration, like that of Erinc Elcin. Coming to Germany from Turkey in 2010, he shared his inspiring trip to Augsburg. With a bachelor's degree in physics under his belt, he decided to do a master's degree in materials science at the University of Augsburg. His decision to become an active part of German society shows a deep commitment: “The values that Germany represents are also my values.” Elcin is not just a new citizen, but a committed contributor to the community!

The remarkable commitment of the new citizens goes beyond their naturalization. District Administrator Sailer strongly encouraged those present to use their right to vote and to actively participate in society. “Don’t stay silent when fundamental rights are being trampled on,” Sailer exclaimed, emphasizing the responsibility that every citizen now bears. Most of the new citizens come from Syria, Romania and Turkey, which underlines the cultural diversity and wealth of the Augsburg district.
