City of Villach prays and mourns: leaning after tragedy
In a deep grief week, the city of Villach commemorates the victims of a tragic incident that took place in Aschaffenburg on Wednesday. After the fatal knife attack, in which a small child and a man were killed and several people were injured, there is great dismay in the north Bavarian city. Mayor Günther Albel (SPÖ) announced that all urban events are canceled from consideration for those affected, and a memorial event is being planned, as ORF Carinthia reports.

The relatives are particularly affected: hundreds of people intended at an ecumenical service in the collegiate church of St. Peter and Alexander, including representatives of the Islamic faith community. The bishops emphasized the importance of cohesion and charity in this difficult time. Bishop Kopp described the attack as "inhuman" and warned: "Every child is holy and must never be violently injured." During the service, the bells of all churches in Aschaffenburg heralded respect to the memory of the victims, such as Br.deThe courageous 41-year-old Kai-Uwe D., who tried to save the victims, was honored posthumously with the Bavarian rescue medal. He leaves small children even. Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder and Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser visited the crime scene and resigned wreaths. Söder expressed his sympathy for the relatives and emphasized that the scars of this tragedy would never heal. "Good and evil are not a question of origin or belief. All children of the world deserve love," says Söder.
