Art in the town hall: Gerti Räß Discover colorful encounters until 2025!
Gerti Räß's impressive works are currently attracting the attention of visitors in the Amberg town hall. At the opening of the exhibition, Mayor Michael Cerny made it clear that Räß's art could not only be considered but experienced. "The encounter with color is life," explains the artist and underpins her philosophy with a quote from Guy de Maupassant, which says that it is the encounters with people who give life a special value.
This exhibition, which will be shown in the foyer of the town hall until February 2025, invites you to immerse yourself in the colorful world of Räß. The term “encounter” in particular plays a central role in their artistic work. The laudator Klaus Havenstein described the artist's works as a source of inspiration that, on closer inspection, always reveal new details. A unique fabric made of colors is combined with surprising motifs, such as a far smiling fish, which stimulates visitors to immerse themselves in the pictures.
Motifs and techniques
The works created in the past five years have been strongly inspired by nature. In addition to classic watercolors, the exhibition also includes innovative mixing techniques such as watercolor printing technology. Räß succeeds in establishing a fascinating connection between calligraphy and her painting by integrating quotes from Rilke's poems into her art. In addition, works can be seen that combine local architecture with natural motifs, such as representations of the Martinskirche or the Nabburg Tor, which open up a fresh look at familiar motifs.
This skillful combination shows the versatility of Räß 'art and invites you to look at the familiar from a new perspective. Figurous representations and abstract forms also play a significant role in their pictures, which creates an exciting variety of forms of expression.
An outlook in the future
Another highlight of the vernissage was the presentation of the title sheet for the 2025 calendar, which was designed by Gerti Räß. Under the motto "Carpe diem!" - Which means something like "use the day!" - the calendar will encourage the viewers to consciously enjoy every day and appreciate the little things in life.
