Bautzen's district administrator demands: Establish a construction research center now!
Görlitz. In a dramatic appeal, Bautzen's district administrator Udo Witschas called on the Federal Ministry of Construction not to delay the establishment of the construction research center any longer. This demand comes as a direct response to the federal government's recent statements in the Bundestag, which state that the establishment is no longer possible this year. Witschas is determined to push the initiative forward and sees Upper Lusatia as a key location for future-oriented construction concepts.
The situation is tense: important preparations for the center are still in their infancy. Key partners are still missing, a consulting firm has not yet been selected and financing is unclear. The location of the center has not yet been determined. These uncertainties were revealed by the federal government before the meeting on Wednesday evening, before the Bundestag fell apart.
Urgent need for action
Witschas emphasizes that the region urgently needs innovative construction concepts in view of the bridge closures and collapses in Dresden and Bad Schandau. “The need for solutions to the construction problem is urgent,” he explains. The vision of a construction research center could give Upper Lusatia decisive impetus and revolutionize the construction industry. Witschas remains optimistic and combative, despite the challenges that still lie ahead.
