Mayor Klaus Kaufmann welcomed a three-digit number of citizens in the Daniel-Schwenzger-Halle.

In his speech, Kaufmann looked back on 2023. The visit from the twin city of Ducey and the expansion of the internet infrastructure were emphasized particularly positively. In addition, the upcoming local elections were discussed in 2024, in which a high participation of the population is to be expected. A new municipal council and a youth council with 18 members are then formed. The youth advisory board will deal with topics such as wind power, a central theme of the past year that was accompanied by information evenings and discussions.

important projects and challenges

The mayor pointed out important projects such as road construction, the electric charging station in the center and the takeover of the Pusteblume daycare center in Machtolsheim. In addition, he reported on the damage caused by hailstorms that have not yet been fully eliminated. As part of the New Year's reception, there was also a ceremony for deceased citizens, including Hans Georg Zeifang, Andreas Raab and Friedrich Oelhafen.

With a view to 2024, the budget and the preparations for the Bundestag election are scheduled, the draft of which is to be presented in the February meeting of the local council. The mayor also addressed the increasing costs in the municipal budget and appealed to the citizens to use their right to vote in order to vote for a government capable of acting. A new kindergarten group will be set up in the forest kindergarten from February/March among the infrastructure projects, and 24 barrier -free bus stops are planned in spring. A forecast says that all Laichinger should be supplied with fast internet by 2027.

As part of the New Year's reception, deserved citizens and successful athletes were also honored. The Laichinger shooters took care of the catering, while musical contributions from the Musikverein, a singing duo and star singers as well as an acrobatic show by the TSV Laichingen gymnast rounded off.

In connection with wind power, the city of Laichingen informed about the expansion in the region. According to reports, the expansion is considered crucial for achieving the climate goals and national security. The Wind-Arum-Land Act, which came into force in February 2023, obliges Baden-Württemberg to show at least 1.1 % by the end of 2027 and at least 1.8 % of the state areas as priority areas for wind power by the end of 2032.

Currently, 37 priority areas are shown in the Donau-Schiller Regional Association, which cover 0.43 % of the association area. In order to achieve the legally defined odds, further priority areas are necessary. The local council of Laichingen has proposed seven priority areas with an area of 333.5 hectares, which makes up 14.5 % of the city area. The first hearing process for the partial update of wind energy takes place from September 16 to November 10, 2024, with a public information event on October 7, 2024, such as laichingen.de reported.

The final determination of the priority areas should take place by the end of 2025, and during the entire procedure, the municipalities are entitled to hearing rights in the participation procedure.
