Government Stocker starts with great pressure with budget negotiations!
The new Austrian federal government, consisting of the ÖVP, SPÖ and Neos, was praised on March 3, 2025. After a long phase of government formation of 155 days, which was characterized by failed negotiations, the party leaders presented their government plan. These talks will continue until April, while the budget speech by Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer is scheduled for May 13th, followed by a conclusion of the parliamentary process until July 1. State Secretary Michaela Schmidt emphasized that the process will not be pleasant in view of the need for a savings. The goal of the government is to avoid an EU deficit procedure and at the same time to strengthen Austria.
