Shamanin in sight: Investigations reveal millions of fraud!
Maria Enzersdorf, Österreich - A spectacular fraud is developing in Lower Austria, which presents the investigators with great challenges. Mariana M., better known as Amela, is considered the self -proclaimed "shaman", who pretended to her victims through highly trotting cleaning rituals, whose assets are cursed. According to Georg Wels, senior investigator at the State Criminal Police Office, she allegedly wants to free countless women from curses and has caused damage of over ten million euros. During searches that took place in particular in a specially secured room of a residential building in Maria Enzersdorf, the authorities found 4.1 million euros and 2.1 million Swiss francs of cash, such as noe.orf.at reported.
The case pulls wide circles. So far, 13 victims have been known, although this number could continue to increase; Over 140 further information is currently evaluated. The police not only investigate the fleeing from the authorities, but also with regard to money laundering and formation of a criminal association. "The usual fraud stitch included the victims that their monetary values should be burned within the framework of rituals in order to avert disaster," said Wels. The suspect is now faced with up to ten years in prison, her accomplices - including her eldest son and another family member - are already in custody.
puzzle around the missing millions
This fraudulent hiding game is reminiscent of the past history of newsless assets that were on Swiss accounts after the Second World War. In the past, millions of dollars of assets associated with Holocaust victims were reclaimed by various institutions. Strategies to uncover these funds and comparison payments to those affected have been discussed several times, in particular between Switzerland and Israel, as described in detail. The complex procedures for repatriation and the associated financial sums underline the importance of clarifying fraudulent machinations, as they come to light in the current case of the "shaman".
