Climate protection heroes: Saarbrücken schools inspire with creative projects!

In an impressive competition, primary schools and daycare centers in Saarbrücken once again demonstrated their passion for environmental and climate protection! The jury, consisting of eight members, honored the outstanding services of 14 institutions that submitted a total of 77 innovative projects in the areas of energy, water and waste savings as well as nature and plant protection. The certificates and cash prizes were ceremoniously presented, and each facility received a zoo voucher from the city's central municipal disposal company (ZKE).

"It is nice to see how many young people are enthusiastic about environmental and climate protection, sustainability and the preservation of nature," enthused Dr. Sabine Dengel, Head of Education, Culture and Youth. This remarkable initiative, known as "Klimakids Saarbrücken", already celebrated its ninth edition and shows how creative and committed the Saarbrücken facilities are.

The winners in the spotlight

The bound all -day primary school in Wiedheck secured first place and a prize money of 2,050 euros! With a variety of projects, including plastic upcycling and an impressive musical about sea protection, the school convinced the jury. The bound all -day primary school Scheidt landed in second place with 1,800 euros, which shone through its raised beds and innovative repair workshop. Third place and 1,750 euros received the voluntary all-day primary school Herrensohr-Jägersreude, who devoted itself to the topic of reducing waste and trained the children to avoid waste.

But that wasn't all! Numerous other institutions such as the Grüneich day care center and the voluntary all -day primary school Hohe Wacht were also able to convince with creative projects and received prize money between 200 and 1,250 euros. The award ceremony was accompanied musically by the talented siblings Larissa and Nicolas Birkenheier, who delighted the guests with their performances.
