Brunsbüttel starts new prevention council: Together against crime!
A municipal prevention council will be launched in Brunsbüttel, in the heart of the Dithmarschen district, at the beginning of 2025! This new council has set itself the ambitious goal of identifying problems such as crime at an early stage and developing targeted solutions. There are already comparable committees on the west coast, for example in Marne, Itzehoe and the Albersdorf region. Brunsbüttel is following suit and wants to fight the challenges of the times with fresh ideas!
Diverse composition of the Prevention Council
On Tuesday evening there is an important decision on the agenda of the Education and Social Affairs Committee: the composition of the new council! A composition of eleven members is planned, including representatives from primary schools, daycare centers, the senior citizens' advisory board and the trade association. Gesa Dierks, head of the education and social affairs department, emphasizes the need for a diverse mix: “It's about ensuring that problems that may not have been apparent before are identified in this council, precisely because its members have different backgrounds.” This shows: diversity is trump!
An ear for the citizens
But the Prevention Council should not only uncover problems - it will also be a central contact point for the citizens of Brunsbüttel! They can express their concerns, which are then discussed by the members. The council will develop proposed solutions that will ultimately be presented to city politicians. Dierks makes it clear: “In the end, of course, the city council makes a decision about what should be done.” A new impulse for the city that will definitely cause excitement!
