Santiago Bernabéu: Architect reveals secrets of spectacular renovation!

Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, Espagne - The renovation of the legendary Santiago Bernabéu Stadium causes excitement! Architect Markus Pfisterer has revealed the secrets behind this monumental project. The conversion, which turned out to be twice as expensive as originally planned, not only made headlines, but also for heated discussions about noise pollution and the controversial skybar.

In an exclusive interview with Relevo, Pfisterer spoke about the challenges the team had to overcome to meet the expectations of Real Madrid and President Florentino Pérez. "We had promised to deliver what we showed in our model. It was a hard fight, but we kept our promise," he said. The urgency of renovating a stadium that meets the demands of one of the largest football clubs in the world was enormous. "The fear that the result would not correspond to expectations was omnipresent," admitted Pfisterer.

The challenges of renovation

The decision to maintain the old stadium instead of building a new building outside Madrid was considered a clever choice. "It was important to preserve the inheritance and the spirit of the Bernabéu," said Pfisterer. The approval of the city of Madrid was another stumbling block that took a lot of time. "The approval for the design was very difficult to get, there were many delays," he added.

Another highlight of the renovation is the use of special steel for the outer facade. "We needed a material that is both durable and weather -resistant. The steel reflects the light in different ways, which gives it a unique look," said Pfisterer. Despite some dissatisfaction with the heavy roof, which was implemented against the original vision of a slight design, the enthusiasm for the project remains unbroken. "Florentino Pérez is satisfied with the result, otherwise we would not be in the project after ten years," Pfisterer Castle.
