Excavators are rolling in: renovation of the Dornbirn trade fair park starts now!
Construction work on the Messepark Dornbirn, the largest shopping center in Vorarlberg, recently began. This reported vol.at. The first excavators are already in use, which marks the start of an extensive renovation. This conversion was imperative to meet the requirements of a high-voltage power line located behind the shopping center. In this context, the electricity pylons must be moved and raised by 25 meters. In addition, an approximately 50-year-old canal was discovered beneath the site, making new planning necessary.
The old canal must be completely relocated and renovated. The associated excavations make it possible to build a new underground car park that will create additional parking space. These parking spaces were originally planned to be located elsewhere and replace a previously planned above-ground parking garage, which is now being replaced by expanded retail space.
Changes in the construction concept
The main entrance area of the exhibition park will also be adapted to the changes in the construction concept. A spacious entrance area is planned towards the trade fair intersection, where there are currently parking spaces. In the future, the sales areas will be relocated to the area where the parking garage was originally supposed to be built. Stationary traffic will then be handled in the underground garage, which will meet the new requirements.
In addition to the specific construction work on the shopping center, urban development in Dornbirn also includes a variety of other tasks. These include the new construction and conversion of public transport areas, such as municipal roads or the maintenance of the sewer network. Dornbirn.at informs that the planning, construction and maintenance of protective measures against natural hazards as well as the maintenance of footpaths and cycle paths also fall within the scope of responsibility.
With the implementation of these comprehensive renovation measures, not only will the infrastructure of the exhibition park be improved, but the entire traffic situation in the area will also be sustainably optimized. This is a significant step towards modernizing and increasing the attractiveness of the shopping center and the surrounding areas.
