Deutsche Bahn reduces ICE stops: Hamm and Bielefeld affected!
Deutsche Bahn has made extensive changes to train services, primarily affecting connections at Hammer Central Station. From December 2024, the number of ICE stops in Hamm and Bielefeld will be significantly reduced to compensate for delays on the route to Berlin. In the future, every fourth stop will be eliminated, and from summer 2025 even every second stop will be eliminated. These new regulations apply until the end of 2025, as shown on calf was reported.
The announcement of the restrictions was made with the timetable change in December 2024. According to the railway's construction site portal, major cuts will be noticeable in the near future: From October 19th to December 14th, 2024, a section of the route between Hamm and Hagen will be closed due to construction work. These measures are taking place in connection with the expansion of the A1 at the Dortmund/Unna intersection, which is leading to restrictions on local and long-distance traffic. In long-distance traffic, connections between Cologne, Wuppertal and Hagen are canceled, and stops in Schwerte and Unna are also canceled. Details are below soester-anzeiger.de to find.
Restrictions on long-distance transport
The new regulation stipulates, among other things, that the hourly service to Berlin and Düsseldorf for Hamm will be reduced to a two-hour service. In addition, the hourly ICE connection to Cologne, which was adjusted to a two-hour service a year ago, will end. In long-distance traffic, there will be further restrictions on the ICE line Bonn - Wuppertal - Hanover - Berlin, so that services will run between Hamm and Berlin, while stops in Cologne, Wuppertal and Hagen will be eliminated.
Disruptions have also been announced for the regional connections: the lines RE7, RE13, RB53 and RB59 are reporting failures. In order to counteract these restrictions, Deutsche Bahn has set up replacement services for the affected regional trains. The balance of the measures shows that significantly reduced connections can be expected in both local and long-distance transport.
