FIFA World XI: Surprises with Mbappé, but without Salah!
On November 4, 2025, the men's and women's world elevens were announced by FIFA and FIFPro in a celebratory announcement. Over 26,000 footballers from all continents selected their best eleven players who showed outstanding performances in the past season. The evaluation period for the male players was from July 15, 2024 to August 3, 2025, while the evaluation period for the women was between August 11, 2024 and August 3, 2025. This election received a lot of attention and shows the acceptance and influence of FIFA within international football.
The French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) dominated the men's selection with a total of five players in the World XI. Standout players include Kylian Mbappe, who plays for Real Madrid, and Jude Bellingham, originally from Real Madrid. It is noteworthy that Real Madrid has several players in the World XI despite missing a title this season. What is quite surprising, however, is the absence of Mohamed Salah and Raphinha, who were among the best scorers of the season.

The importance of voting
This award is the result of the votes of over 20,000 male and 7,000 female soccer players. What is particularly noteworthy is that Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid dominate the selection, with Real Madrid in particular shining with six players in the team. The selection of women also shows clear favorites and traditions, for example Lucy Bronze, who is taking part for the seventh time.
The selection of the World XI not only has an entertaining aspect, it also shows the influence that FIFA and the national associations have on international football. FIFA, which plays a central role in the global football market, is internationally recognized by its 211 member associations and organizes and runs competitions worldwide, including the highly controversial World Cups.
FIFA, founded in 1904, maintains a complex network of confederations and member associations designed to promote sport and fairness in football. At the helm is Gianni Infantino, who has served as president since 2016 and steered FIFA through various challenges. In recent years there have also been repeated discussions about transparency and ethics within the association, particularly with regard to allegations of corruption and human rights issues.
For fans and players, the selection of the FIFA World XI is another reason to be enthusiastic about football and its future, while at the same time a critical look at the organizational background should not be missing.
