FPÖ calls for a radical change: zero immigration as an asylum goal!
Udo Landbauer, the FPÖ Lower Austria state party chairman, recently sharply criticized the unity party's policies since 2015, which, in his opinion, have brought about significant negative developments in the country. According to ots.at, problems such as the exacerbation of the shortage of skilled workers and targeted immigration into the social system, especially in Vienna, are becoming increasingly apparent. This criticism was supported by current figures from the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF), which show damage in various areas.
Landbauer also mentions the lack of integration and the poor knowledge of German among migrants in schools as pressing issues. Particular safety concerns for women and children in relation to immigration crime are highlighted. In this context, he calls for a “complete reversal” in asylum policy, with the clear goal of zero immigration. This shows his and the FPÖ's stance on the ongoing challenges in the area of asylum and integration.
Measures to reorganize the asylum question
The FPÖ has already taken various measures to reorganize the asylum issue. These include the introduction of benefits in kind instead of cash, an additional reporting requirement for asylum seekers and the withdrawal of basic services in the event of abuse. In addition, penalties should be introduced for those who refuse to integrate. Landbauer emphasizes that the safety of its own population must be the top priority.
A similar picture emerges in Germany. Despite the shortage of skilled workers, there has been little progress in the integration of refugees. According to zdf.de, only 7% of refugees were able to find employment within a year. After six years this number rises to over 50%, but the problem of inadequate integration remains.
Successful integration initiatives
Initiatives such as “Perspective Neustart” support refugees in founding start-ups and offer help with bureaucratic issues. Reza Haidari, an Afghan refugee, is an example of the success of these programs.
The ReDi School in Munich offers 18-month training for refugees that is geared towards the job market, and 59% of graduates find a job within 1.5 years. However, Birgit Köbl from the ReDi School calls for bureaucratic hurdles to be reduced in order to further facilitate integration.
In addition, the corporate landscape on a global level acquired an exciting development. Finance.yahoo.com reported that Alphabet, Google's parent company, recently achieved a market cap of $3 trillion reached. This makes Google the fourth company to achieve this figure, after Apple, Microsoft and Nvidia. Such milestones in the technology sector could influence the overall economic situation.
Overall, clear measures and strategies are required both in the area of asylum policy and in the integration of migrants and refugees into the labor market in order to effectively meet the challenges.
