The Wiener SPÖ women are committed to real equality in all social areas. Their focuses include equal opportunities, fair wages, the compatibility of work and family and the protection against violence. These approaches are part of a comprehensive feminist policy that is traditionally closely linked to social democracy. Your organization is part of a movement that acts actively for freedom, equality, justice and solidarity.

feminism and social change

The feminist efforts of the Vienna SPÖ women also reflect broader social developments. The second wave of the women's movement, which began in the 1960s, focuses on oppressed female and lesbian sexuality as well as combating sexual violence. This movement has paved the basics for today's demands for equality and consists of different currents that work for both social and economic equality.

The work and the influence of feminist organizations are crucial for social change. In a world in which every third woman in Austria experiences sexualized attacks or violence, her concerns are of the utmost importance. At a time when anti -feminist networks are increasing worldwide, the participatory, supportive function of organizations such as the Vienna SPÖ is all the more important to meet the challenges of feminism in today's society.
