Lottery winner with a down-to-earth attitude: James remains humble despite making millions!
20-year-old James Clarkson from Carlisle has won an impressive jackpot of 7.5 million pounds, or 8.3 million francs, on the National Lottery. On January 4th, he checked his lottery numbers and realized he was incredibly lucky. Instead of celebrating the financial blessing with big parties, like VOL.AT reported, James decided to celebrate with his family with roast beef, beer and some champagne. However, his ambition takes him back to his roots: He wants to continue working as a plumber and successfully complete his training as a heating engineer.
James is determined to keep his footing in life, despite his sudden wealth. “I’m too young not to work,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of having a reason to get up in the morning. This set of values largely goes back to his father, who taught him that hard work and a regular lifestyle are essential. Accordingly, James went back to work the day after his win to repair broken drains, like 20 minutes reported. Despite the cold and uncomfortable conditions, he sees his job as an opportunity to develop further.
A generous gift for the family
James also plans to use his lottery winnings to pay off his parents' mortgage, which has completely overwhelmed them. “We are a close family and they have always been there for me,” he said. In addition to the financial support, he also wants to fulfill his personal wishes, including a trip to the Cape Verde Islands and the purchase of an Audi. As a proud Manchester United fan, he hopes to get season tickets for himself and his family. Despite the sudden wealth, James remains down-to-earth and strives for a meaningful life in which work and family are the focus.
