Municipalities in the Melk district fight together against violence on women!
St. Pölten, Österreich - In the Melk district, six municipalities were awarded for their outstanding commitment to violence against women. At a solemn ceremony in the state parliamentary session in St. Pölten, Women's Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister awarded special enamel badges at a total of 89 municipalities as recognition for their exemplary violence prevention measures. The honored communities from the Melk district include Hürm, Pöchlarn, Bischofstetten, Golling/Erlauf, Mank and Kleinpöchlarn. Teschl-Hofmeister expressed the appreciation for the commitment of the communities and emphasized the importance of civil courage in the fight against domestic violence.
At the same time, twelve communities were also honored in the Mistelbach district for their efforts to prevention violence, such as nön.at reported. Here it became clear how actively the municipalities not only initiated preventive measures, but also implemented. Mayor and other municipal representatives received the annual recognition for their work to raise awareness and to support women affected by violence. The honor by Teschl-Hofmeister should be an incentive for all communities to continue to actively work for the topic. The award-winning communities have implemented an average of around 7.5 measures, including information events and workshop campaigns to raise awareness of the population. All communities participating in the event have the flag "You have the right to a violent life" in order to make their commitment visible. Teschl-Hofmeister appealed to all municipalities to remain active in the future and to take further steps for violence prevention.
