Barrier -free Austria: Justice for people with disabilities!
This day, December 2, 2024, KOBV Austria calls for a fundamental realignment of the inclusion measures as part of the international day of people with disabilities. The association emphasizes that the elimination of barriers is not only a question of justice, but also an essential investment in the future of our society. Many people with disabilities still have no access to necessary personal assistance, which severely limits their self -determination. According to KOBV President Franz Groshan, this situation is not only a legal failure, but also a missed opportunity for everyone. Despite the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities, there are still many measures to implement in Austria, which leads to alarming unemployment among people with disabilities and increases mental stress, as reported by KobV Austria.
Requirement of rehabilitation offers
The need for a comprehensive rehabilitation offering is also emphasized in the report of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Through targeted benefits for participation, people with disabilities are to be integrated into the community in order to lead a life as self -determined as possible. The initiatives include a wide range of offers, including medical rehabilitation, participation in working life and social participation. Successful access to these services should be prevented at the beginning of illnesses or accidents in order to seamlessly make the rehabilitation process. The authority emphasizes that early interventions are decisive in order to enable the people concerned to return to their professional life and thus to promote independence, as in the report of the bmas
KOBV Austria sees an urgent need for action and urges politics to act determined. The measures required include the expansion of personal assistance, comprehensive barrier -free health care and including labor markets. "A barrier -free Austria is a necessary investment in our common future," says Groshan, who emphasizes the urgency of politics to finally ensure real participation for all people.
