New Year's concert in the Volkstheater: Schmusechor inspires with a new album!
Volkstheater, Wien, Österreich - Forget the old ideas about choirs! The Schmusechor brings a breath of fresh wind to the music scene, and that in a very personal way. other than usual. "I wanted to sing in a choir that plays the music that I also like privately," explains Giesinger. She started singing in her bedroom with friends, and this unique ensemble, which interpreted hits by Billie Eilish and David Bowie, was created almost ten years ago.
The New Year's concert of the cuddling is an absolute mandatory date in the calendar. On January 3 and 4, 2024, the choir will again perform in the Volkstheater, presenting an exciting mix of singing and performances. Last year they made their debut with an alternative concert format that reflects the variety of modern music. "I see my musical world much more diverse," says Giesinger. She is looking forward to publishing an album that consists of live recordings and performances, because fans have long demanded this musical experience.
a name with history
The name "Schmusechor" has an amusing origin: During a conversation in bed with her partner at the time, Giesinger found the perfect name for her group. It describes the cuddling and singing as passionate activities that are both carried out with the mouth - a clever thought that reflects the personality of the choir. With a variety of talented singers, all of whom bring in their own style, the brudge shows that choral music can be much more than just traditional sounds today, which the audience always inspires.
Modern, diverse and inspiring - the cuddling is ready to conquer the stage and touch the hearts of the audience, as in her first edition of the New Year's concert, which has already proven to be a great success last year. The WUK therefore relies on a very special experience that breaks the expectations of traditional choral music and hopefully many people captivate.
