Safety and party atmosphere: Vienna is preparing for the New Year's Eve trail!
The New Year's celebrations in Vienna began today at 2:00 p.m. at the 33rd Vienna New Year's Eve Trail. In the city center, where most of the stages are located, all 40 security barriers were activated to regulate access for visitors. From now on, access to the event site in the first district is only possible via designated points, including Dr.-Karl-Renner-Ring/Stadiongasse and Michaelerplatz/Kohlmarkt. These security measures have been put in place to ensure smooth operations during the celebrations, such as APA OTS reported.
The festivities run until 2:00 a.m. January 1, 2025, and entry is free, with no tickets required. To ensure the safety of participants, the Universitätsring was closed to traffic from 8:00 p.m. and the tram lines in this area will also be rerouted. Since around 9:30 p.m., the Stephansplatz subway station has no longer been served by the U1 and U3 subway lines. These measures are part of the comprehensive safety precautions taken on the occasion of the New Year's Eve Trail and the start of the Johann Strauss Year wien.ORF.at added.
